The "dog days of summer" actually has nothing to do with dogs. It has to do with the period that Sirius, the Dog Star, rises at the same time as the sun. It's generally associated with the time period from July 3 to August 11.

Down Pillow Filling:

Down pillow filling is malleable and holds its shape well so therefore is a good support for your head and neck.  A down pillow is also light and  durable.  However, down pillows can retain your heat and become too warm and they tend to be on the more expensive side.

Feather Pillow Filling:

Feather pillow filling is a bit less expensive but is also light and malleable.  However, feather filling can become flat and quite uncomfortable.  Like down, a feather pillow retains heat.

Polyester Fiberfill Pillow Filling:

Polyester fiberfill pillows are reasonably priced and therefore very popular.  These pillows are lightweight and easy to clean.  On the down side polyester fiberfill pillows become lumpy, retain heat and are potentially hazardous due to the chemical ingredients used to make the polyester fibers.

Memory Foam Pillow Filling:

Memory foam filling (also shredded memory foam fill) is malleable, offers support and doesn't lose shape.  However, there can be an "off-gassing" odor.

Buckwheat Hull Pillow Filling:
Buckwheat hull filling offers a unique ability to perfectly conform to the shape of your head and neck, is eco-friendly, and promotes air flow which keeps the pillow (and you) cool.  The down side is that buckwheat hulls make a rustling noise when shifted and can take a while to get used to as well as that the pillow is extremely heavy.

Memphis Barbecue Sauce - A mixture or sweet and vinegar with a hint of heat. 

We came upon this recipe at www.thespruceeats.com and think it would be a nice addition to add to a bbq rib feast!

1 cup ketchup
1/2 cup apple cider vinegar
1/2 cup water
1/4 cup pureed onion
2 tablespoons minced garlic
2 tablespoons butter
2 tablespoons molasses
2 tablespoons brown sugar
1 tablespoons prepared mustard
1/2 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
1/2 tablespoon paprika
1/2 tablespoon mild chili powder
2 teaspoons dried oregano
1 teaspoons dried thyme
1/2 teaspoon salt

1. Melt butter in a saucepan over a medium heat. Add onion and saute for 2-3 minutes, stirring occasionally.  Add garlic and cook for 15-20 seconds or until it becomes fragrant.  Do not let the garlic burn or it will cause the sauce to become bitter. Add remaining ingredients (vinegar last), reduce heat and simmer over low for 12-15 minutes. Stir every so often.

2. Remove sauce from heat and let cool for 20 minutes.

Use right away or store in an airtight container or jar in the refrigerator for up to 1 week after preparation.  

3. Rewarm sauce for 30 seconds at a time until it reaches room temperature. Serve on the side.

4. Use sauce on any meats and vegetables.  This can be served as a side sauce or table sauce.
