Rotary Club’s Next Drive-thru Food Drive is Aug. 2

The Rotary Club of Pittsford’s next drive-thru food drive is scheduled Saturday (Aug. 2) from 9 am to noon at the Pittsford Sutherland High School bus loop. In addition to the Pittsford Food Cupboard, donations also will support The Community Food Cupboard of Rochester and the Nazareth University Oak Tree Food Pantry. Rotarians and Interact Club members will be collecting at the drive rain or shine.

The Pittsford Food Cupboard plays a crucial role in addressing food insecurity within our community. Donations help ensure that local families have access to essential food items and will promote well-being and stability. See the cupboard’s list of current needs.

The Community Food Cupboard of Rochester is a non-profit food cupboard dedicated to feeding hungry families and home-bound senior citizens in Northeast Rochester and Irondequoit.

The Oak Tree Pantry serves those with food insecurity in the Nazareth community. The pantry has an ongoing need for granola bars, pasta, peanut butter, soap and other hygiene products.

The drive also will collect donations of gently used, current magazines for distribution to area human service organizations.

The club conducts the drives the first Saturday of the month all year with an occasional change of date to avoid holiday and event conflicts.

Jim had to admit, he was very skeptical that his new rescue Willy (Buddy) would be able to be contained on Invisible Fence considering his "Beagle nose" and oblivion to what's going on when he's sniffing. Well, he's been doing great! After just a few training sessions and the family also doing training with him he does as expected and turns back into the yard if he gets near the flags or importantly, if he gets a correction. Jim figured if he was on the chase he would just keep going, so far, very good results! The flags have remained mainly to remind everyone where the line is but is also a reminder for Willy. Some of the line isn't associated with a natural tree line or other obvious border. Invisible Fence has been a game changer allowing Willy to explore and some freedom from his leash. Be sure to check your gutter systems, any cracked, bent, clogged gutters won't get the water away from your house. What happens then is the gutters leak and overflow directing the water right down into your foundation, filtering into your basement. Wet basement issues are not fun. Mildew and mold form, causing odor and unhealthy air, as well as cracked walls, floors, just a mess. It's also safer to have All County Gutter come over to take a look.
