Welcome to our November issue! Can't believe 2025 is almost at an end. November has an important day to reflect and give thanks - Veteran's Day. Should not be overlooked as so many fought to defend our nation and keep it free. Thank you to all the veterans, and for the sacrifices made.

 

Then there's Thanksgiving, November 27th. A holiday to gather with family and friends, be thankful for them and your life. Also, give to food pantries helping the community, so many are in need. Give them a call to find out what supplies are needed, some items just aren't practical for some people. A whole uncooked turkey is nice but maybe those receiving it don't have a stove, or pan, or know how to cook it. If you give canned goods include a can opener. Think out the items you donate.

Always, year-round, donate to animal shelters. They all are stretched beyond their resources but still taking in animals who have been dumped off, or not spayed or neutered resulting in helpless kittens and puppies. All need vet care, food, supplies. Just look up their website or facebook page or just call them. Make sure too, they are legit. Consider adopting a pet or two, maybe three! So many pets need good, loving homes. These animals give so much back; love, entertainment, laughter, to your home.

Over 20 years ago, Jim had Empire KItchen & Bath (585-235-3050) completely remodel his old farmhouse kitchen into a beautiful, functioning one. Now keep in mind, Jim cooks - a lot! So the sink & countertop have taken a beating over the years, now it's time to replace them. Jim picked out an incredible piece of granite for the countertop, went to Empire Kitchen & Bath's showroom and selected a new sink and faucet. Always using big pans for cooking he needed a sink that was big enough as well as deep enough. They had it! This time going with a dark sink and faucet different from what he had, also easier to clean and always looks nice. Recently a representative came out and took measurements for a countertop template with a special laser! The next step is going back to Empire Kitchen & Bath and selecting the placement of the template to get the most enhancement of the beauty of the stone. Then the granite gets professionally cut, next the installation date to install.

Have you been noticing moisture or even water getting into your basement? Well, you know, that's not a good thing! Did you know, though, that many times the culpret is the gutters? "How can that be?" Have you always wanted a pole barn? Or a shed made to your specifications? SL Custom Construction is the company Jim Salmon hired to build his workshop. His plans for the size and height were different from the usual ones you see. No problem for SL! They accommodated Jim's ideas and got to work! Rotary Club’s Next Drive-thru Food Drive is Nov. 1
 

The Rotary Club of Pittsford’s next drive-thru food drive is scheduled Saturday (Nov.1) from 9 am to noon at the Pittsford Sutherland High School bus loop. Donations will support the Pittsford Food Cupboard and the Nazareth University Oak Tree Food Pantry. Toiletries and household cleaning products also will be accepted for Angels of Mercy New York. Rotarians and Interact Club members will be collecting at the drive rain or shine.

The Pittsford Food Cupboard plays a crucial role in addressing food insecurity within our community. Donations help ensure that local families have access to essential food items and will promote well-being and stability. See the cupboard’s list of current needs.

Angels of Mercy New York is a non-profit organization in Rochester that educates, protects, and empowers women and girls facing domestic violence, human trafficking, and other life-controlling issues.

The Oak Tree Pantry serves those with food insecurity in the Nazareth community. The pantry has an ongoing need for granola bars, pasta, peanut butter, soap and other hygiene products.

The drive also will collect donations of gently used, current magazines for distribution to area human service organizations. The club conducts the drives the first Saturday of the month all year with an occasional change of date to avoid holiday and event conflicts.
