Part 1 of Jim and John's trip West started at the Hoover Dam. Here are some of the photos Jim took while visiting the Black Canyon on the border of Arizona and Nevada. The Hoover Dam was constructed during the Great Depression (between 1931 and 1936) and was dedicated on September 30, 1935, by President Franklin D. Roosevelt. It took thousands of workers to construct and cost around 49 million dollars (as well as over 100 human lives). The dam was controversially named after President Herbert Hoover.
What a view!
