After drilling 10 vertical geothermal wells beneath the parking lot last Winter at the Maplewood Nature Center, our crew wrapped up loop flushing and filling this week. It’s one of the most critical steps in a geothermal installation: Removing air and debris from the loops so the system can circulate clean fluid and operate efficiently.
When the Nature Center opens this Summer, it will showcase what sustainable infrastructure can look like in an urban environment: Heated and cooled by the earth below and powered by a 43 kW solar PV system above.
