You have to admit we've had a long run unlike previous years! So, moving on to March events!

The St. Patrick's Day Parade, March 14th, 12:30pm Rochester, N.Y. What fun! Everyone is ready to get out and have a great time, nothing like St. Patrick's Day to do that! Technically it's March 17th but why not start a few days early?!!!!  By the way, Jim Salmon will be one of the judges! 

Then the following weekend March 21st & 22nd is the Rochester Home & Garden Show & Sale at the Rochester Riverside Convention Center. Click for discount coupon and more details. This is a great event to visit with a lot of our local businesses, talk about your ideas and get feedback. With his profession as a home inspector obviously we're in favor, but, for the past 5 years at least, home inspections were discouraged. You were practically forced into signing off on one, along with no attorney approval!  Both of these are put into place to protect the homebuyer, as well as the seller. Not having these or signing off leaves the buyer in a bad situation. Not much recourse if something is wrong with the house. Many people have a home inspection AFTER they're in the house, which is good but now they are finding out their new house has hidden issues, expensive ones. The basement walls were covered over so you couldn't see the wet walls or moisture. It's especially telling when the basement is freshly painted, hiding mildew and mold. Or you "couldn't get access to the attic".  Now you've moved in and got up there to find it's covered in mold or a large support beam is broken. Maybe a crack was hidden behind a curtain or dresser. Or a rug was over the floor, under it a major crack. So many issues get disquised, now you need to get them fixed and it's a lot of money that you just don't have.

A few weeks ago, Jim bought a new 2025 Ford F-150 Pick-up truck from Van Bortel Ford. He had been planning on keeping his 2018 going but was toying with getting a new truck. His experience with Van Bortel was unlike any other dealership. He needs certain things in order to perform his home inspections, a particular truck bed length for his ladders, for instance. This happens, a lot, ice build up gets heavy, then it'll either melt or slide down onto the gutters. We talked about Jim's new truck. One thing we didn't talk about, til now, is that even before he picked it up, it went over to Corrosion Pro Plus to get it's undercoating done so it'll last a long time.
