Here we are, October! Nights have definitely been much cooler, days crisp! There is a lot to love about fall.

The leaves changing color, take the time for a nice drive to enjoy them - it's a relatively short window of opportunity!

Apple season at it's best! Pumpkins galore!

Maybe we can get through the fall without all the rain. Haunted houses and hay rides to get your heart pounding! Corn mazes.

First, let's start out, if you're buying a house, get a home inspection before closing! Put that contingency in the offer and hold your ground. We hear the nightmares after the fact for those that signed off on a home inspection. Very sad. Buyers protection is not a priority. Buyers are pressured to sign off on the inspection which could help the buyer. A home inspection gives you the condition of the house. Every house has issues but there are important ones that you should be aware of. Many times it could be extremely costly if you get in a house and find out afterwards. That roof leak, the ceiling happened to be freshly painted to cover the evidence. Or you were told " oh the roof is fine, was just upgraded" without paperwork to show for it. And the basement was also freshly painted with a brand new rug, how nice. How to cover water damage & floor cracks, is what that's about. Air freshener smelled so good. covering over the musty or pet odors. There are all kinds of tricks, be aware, be informed, get a home inspection. The price of a home inspection is far less than a new roof or foundation issues, new furnace system, things you really need to know about and have documented.

Pets, are near and dear to our hearts. So many of us view them as a family member, probably a very loved, spoiled family member! Rightfully so! They are as good for us as we should be for them. Mostly their life is simple, needs; shelter, food, love, to be properly cared for, vet visits to maintain their health. BUT, there is a major problem going on that maybe you're not aware of. Strays and dumped animals to fend for themselves in strange, unfamiliar areas with no food, no water, no anything. It's awful how some people are dumping animals, in bags or boxes alongside a busy roadway. Yes, that happens, too often. Some are lucky enough that someone took an extra minute to look in that box or bag to save them. Sometimes people take them to deserted section of a road and simply throw them out the car door or window and speed away. How absolutely terrifying for that poor pet, hopefully they weren't injured. All the shelters and rescues are overflowing. They get so many calls every single day to help a found or abandoned animal. They all try to help but because they can only take in so many and they don't have the funds - they just can't take in anymore. This situation has gotten worse. What can you do? It sure makes sense to have insulation with our winters, doesn't it? Do you have an older house? There's a good chance the insulation isn't working the way it should. It may have gotten wet or absorbed moisture, causing it to "shrink" or become saturated with water, making it much less effective.

You can give Coler Insulation a call at 585-217-9069 and have all that old insulation removed and replaced with spray foam insulation. Spray foam is much more efficient, and because it's sprayed in, it fills cracks and crevices, preventing wind from seeping through.

It also doesn't need to be 3 or 4 inches thick. It goes on thin and then expands, providing much better insulation coverage.

Some of the prime locations to check are the attic and band joist areas. Many times, people complain that they feel a draft, but it could be coming from an unsealed band joist area. Once it's properly sealed, wow—the difference can be instant!
