February, the month you can't wait to be over even before it starts! The sooner it's done the closer to spring! We have had winter since Thanksgiving eve! Enough already with the snow and bitter cold! We're anxious to see grass and experience warmer weather, even 40 degrees will feel like a heat wave!

May be a bit late to go over this, but if you have vent pipes for your furnace - make sure they are clear of snow! Check them regularly during snow and wind and keep it clear.

So many people lost power during various storms we've had, whether high wind or heavy snow and in between! It's not a fun time but it's definitely worse in the winter. Your furnace requires power to start and run, obviously, without power, no heat. No hot water, lights, can't charge your phone (a problem we didn't use to have to worry about), affects your refrigerator, stove, microwave, etc. Well, you know very well especially if it's happened to you. For older folks it's worse and scary, but could be a life threatening thing if they rely on oxygen or need electricity for stairlifts, power wheelchairs, medical equipment and more. What to do to avoid this? Have a stand-by generator installed. The portable generators require work, pulling out of garage, making sure has fuel, starting it having it properly connected to your power source, being there the entire time to keep an eye on it, and turning it off correctly when the power comes back on.  A lot of work, and a real pain during a blizzard!

How has the winter affected your roof? Crossfield Heating & Cooling has provided service to Jim Salmon's house since 1996! His old farmhouse had a oil furnace, in 1999 Crossfield installed a new high efficiency furnace and duct work into the second floor (as there was never heat for the upstairs).  They have also maintained the furnace every year to keep it running perfectly! They installed a furnace & system in his office building as well as few wall units for various other rooms/buildings. Recently they installed a furnace in his new woodshop. Yes, he's spoiled!
