If you listened to Jim filling in for Bob Lonsberry on Tuesday you heard him talking to the great Herb Smith!  Herb is third trumpet with the Rochester Philharmonic Orchestra, Faculty RIT, Director of Jazz Bands, and Arranger and composer.

Herb's group, The Freedom Trio, will be opening a show at Funk and Waffles (204 N Water St, Rochester, NY 14604) on March 24th.  The Freedom Trio opens up the show at 9 followed by Herb Smith who will stick around and play with the Majestics from 10 on!

Originally a trio with Ron on Hammond B-3, clavinet and guitar, Jim on bass and Lou on drums, the Majestics' steadily developed a fan base in upstate New York, eventually catching the attention of the legendary Lee "Scratch" Perry. In 1982, the group backed Perry when he opened for the Clash during their historic run at New York City's Bonds International Casino, then traveled with the music icon to Kingston, Jamaica to record his "Mystic Miracle Star" LP.--
